Staff

Walt Shaffner serves as the Headmaster for the Bell Shoals Baptist Academy, a ministry of Bell Shoals Baptist Church.  Mr. Shaffner holds both a Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of South Florida, which has lead him to a life-long career within the education industry. 

Prior to his arrival at the Academy, Mr. Shaffner worked in two different Hillsborough County school districts, serving at ten unique sites during the span of his 38-year career.  His career has included roles such as, Band Director (12 years), Assistant Principal (4 years), Principal (16 years) and District level Director of numerous innovative programs (8 years).  

Mr. Shaffner has been a member of Bell Shoals Baptist Church since 1989, serving in various ministries including the Worship Ministry, Deacon Fellowship, as well as the Academy Steering Committee. 

Mr. Shaffner and his wife, Cheryl, have two children, Sarah and Tyler.  Sarah recently graduated from The University of South Florida with a degree in Elementary Education and Tyler is currently working towards a degree in Finance from the University of Florida.
